Malaysia
Zuri Van Rijswijk is part of our SE Asian team with responsibility for Malaysia. Zuri was born in Malaysia and has been immersed in the educational world, having worked alongside Gerry Slessenger in North Africa for the world’s largest educational corporate group. She is married to an outstanding educator, Martin, who has had headships in Egypt, Germany, Thailand, New Zealand and now Malaysia.
Zuri can speak Malay, Arabic and Tamil with English of course and will be responsible for bringing Mallory for Schools leading services to international schools, colleges and universities in Malaysia. She is based in Kuala Lumpur (which she knows very well) visiting new and potential customers.
Togo
Evariste Adjaho recently became our representantive in Togo. Passionate about books, he and his wife opened a bookshop in Lomé in 2020, which, amongst other things, promotes local culture.
Burundi
Alice has represented Mallory International in Burundi since May 2021.
Zambia
Fidelis Katongo has been Mallory’s representative since 2006. His daughter, Misozi Zondi, has just joined him to share the representation. Their family have been well known in the book trade in Zambia for a number of years.
Tanzania
Gervas Ifunya has been handling the operations for Mallory in Tanzania for many years and was appointed representative in April 2016.
Senegal
Hussein Wazni has been the director of Librairie Sésame in Dakar since 2005. We started working with him in 2014 and have since won significant tenders for the supply of books and journal subscriptions.
Rwanda
Arthur is the Mallory representative in Rwanda. He has helped us tender for a number of tertiary projects, with significant success.
Uganda
Moses Mutumba represents Mallory in Uganda with a precision and efficiency all his own. Both he and Sarah Nassuna helped us to develop the Ugandan market into one of our best. The range of customers is very wide, from leading tertiary institutions to specialist and educational projects.
New Zealand
Gerry brings to Mallory over 40 years’ experience in educational procurement and logistics. He has managed two supply companies in the UK and Africa (one a charity helping missions and aid agencies with all their needs especially in emergency relief situations) and has also worked for the USA’s largest educational corporation in international sales. He has lived in Africa for many years and has travelled to 94 countries worldwide and out of his top five countries worldwide, New Zealand remains No.1.
His passions are history (military), golf, easy reading (William Boyd, Ken Follett, Jeffrey Archer) and Christian apologetics. He has 9 grandchildren all scattered around the globe. Oh, and by the way he has a mini zoo of various animals including a possum!
Namibia
Mahne has been Mallory’s representative in Namibia since June 2014. He has worked with us on several large projects for the Millenium Challenge Account Namibia (MCA), helping with the supply and distribution of books and learning materials to schools across Namibia.
Mozambique
Paulo Guerreiro has been appointed Mallory International’s representative. He has been a bookseller for 24 years, and for the last 20 in Mozambique. Since 2011, he has been the managing Partner of Livrarias Conhecimento, one of the 3 major bookshops in Mozambique, which supplies schools and universities all over the country.
Malawi
Gaulphine has represented Mallory in Malawi since 1989, making her our longest serving partner. She also represents leading publishers, and owns the best bookshop in Lilongwe. Over the years we have been consistently successful in Malawi, with both projects and regular business.
Kenya
Margaret Nyambura from Corporate Campus is our local contact, and is developing our Mallory business in Kenya. She has been working energetically to supply educational DVDs to academic institutions and is already known to many of our customers.
Ghana
In August 2013 we established a new partnership in Ghana with Beryl Stanley-Marbell of SyTris. SyTris is a major bookseller in Ghana, with four shops, and the two businesses have complementary skills.
Ethiopia
Tafesse Solomon represents Mallory International in Ethiopia. We have been successful in a number of tertiary level projects over the years, and have achieved consistently high supply rates on contracts awarded. We have recently renewed a three year contract with Addis Ababa University for supply of both books and journals.
Côte d’Ivoire
Thomas Cakpo joined Mallory as our Côte d’Ivoire representative in May 2016. He has a Master’s degree in Business and Hotel Management. His experience and network are very useful for the development of our activity in the country.
Cameroon
Tony Faison represents Pearson in various West African countries, and we are delighted to have established a partnership with his organisation. He began representing Mallory in Cameroon in November 2010.
South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland
Irene Inan has assisted and coordinated our South African activities for Malawi tenders since 2012. She has further been involved in growing Mallory’s footprint in Lesotho and Swaziland. This lead to our formalisation of the partnership to work with her in 2018.

Julian has been involved in export bookselling and educational supply for over 40 years, and has chaired both the export and the college and university groups of the Booksellers Association. He has been chairman of Batch.co.uk, the UK book trade’s payment allocation and clearing system. He has sat on the knowledge and information advisory committee of the British Council, was a director of Book Tokens Ltd for 20 years, and was for some years the bookselling representative on the international board of the UK Publishers Association. He is honorary vice-president for life of the Booksellers Association.

Roger is from South Africa and came to the UK to be closer to his two daughters and four grandchildren. He enjoys being a handyman around the house, reading and walking around Seaton where he presently resides with his wife, Jennifer. His main interest is boating and sailing.

Jordan is a warehouse operative who processes goods into the warehouse and prepares the goods to be shipped. In his spare time, Jordan follows Manchester United FC and enjoys watching Formula 1.

Alice joined Mallory in 2024 after 8 years working in international partnership management at Western Michigan University. She has spent time either studying or working in France, Senegal, the UK, the US and South Korea, and has travelled to many other countries in-between. Now based in Limerick, Ireland, Alice manages a portfolio of customers located primarily in SE Asia, Europe and Mozambique. Alice loves swing dancing and spends most of her free time dancing or working on home renovation projects.

Josh focuses mainly on packing educational supplies for Mallory’s schools customers. In his spare time Josh follows Liverpool football club, and is a gamer. Josh is also a bit of a car fanatic and can often be found detailing his current vehicle.

Robyn joined Mallory shortly after relocating from London to Devon, and is originally from South Africa. She mainly looks after our school customers in Zambia and Ghana. Robyn has a BComm degree in politics, philosophy and economics and has mainly worked in retail in finance and marketing. Robyn has recently gone back to ballet dancing and is keen on yoga and pilates. Robyn also enjoys exploring the coastlines of Southwest England and loves to travel.

Olivia looks after customers in Senegal, Rwanda, France, Madagascar, Switzerland, Tunisia and many more. She graduated from the University of Exeter in 2021 with a degree in sociology and modern languages. Olivia loves to travel and spent a year in Guadeloupe teaching English.

Alisa is working with Spanish schools customers. She lives in Mexico where previously she worked as an English teacher. She has also worked as a maintenance coordinator for an American company among many other things. She enjoys travelling, cycling, and crafting.

Henry first joined Mallory as a warehouse temp for 18 months until he went to university, returning to the warehouse every summer holiday. Having now graduated with a degree in maths and philosophy he has joined our schools team where he predominantly manages our Spanish customers.

Louis joined Mallory after a year of travelling through various countries in South America, Asia, and Europe. He looks after our customers in Kenya and Tanzania, amongst many others. In 2016, Louis graduated from the University of Reading with a degree in politics and international relations, leading to a keen interest in current affairs. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling, trips to the local national park and making the most of his season ticket at Exeter City FC.

Magali joined Mallory in September 2013 as a sales coordinator after completing her business enterprise degree from Plymouth University and is now heading Mallory’s School’s team. In addition, Magali looks after customers in both anglophone and francophone countries such as : Zambia, Burundi and Switzerland.

Olivia joined the Mallory Schools team after many years working as an educator in secondary MFL and ESL. She initially worked with schools in Cameroon, Rwanda and Eastern Europe. Since Brexit she has been more involved in Europe strategy. Olivia speaks French, Spanish and Italian and is learning Japanese. She loves to travel and learn about other cultures and has spent time living in Italy, France, Japan and Australia.

Ivelina takes care of customers in Tanzania, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Malawi and Mauritius. She graduated with an MA in english literature and history from the University of Dundee in Scotland before relocating back to Exeter, England. Ultimately, Ivelina would describe herself as a citizen of the world, and most enjoys spending her time reading, travelling, and exploring new crafts.

Jan joined us in April 2017 when we acquired the educational side of ADC Blackfire, Prague. He has years of experience in international trade and now as a regional manager for Europe he is involved in developing Mallory’s Europe strategy. Jan attended Ghent University in Belgium and then graduated with a master’s degree in economics and rural development at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague. In Jan’s spare time he enjoys travelling with his partner and long walks in mountains with their dogs.

David handles the orders for home-schooling company Wolsey Hall as well as managing the journal and magazine subscriptions for various Mallory customers. David graduated from the University of Exeter with a degree in drama, and co-manages his own independent theatre company ‘Sun & Moon Theatre’ who specialise in Shakespeare’s plays.

Vic originally worked in warehouse team at Mallory International whilst completing his PhD in sociology at Exeter University. He went on to work for Mallory in Malawi for two months in 2013, after which he became a permanent member of the team, looking after schools customers in Malawi, Rwanda and Ghana. Vic later took on responsibility for managing Mallory’s accounts in Southeast Asia, a new market at the time. Vic now oversees the business development strategy for the business.

Gary joined the company in 2011 as a part of the warehouse team. With a degree in accounting and finance, Mallory thought his skills would be more useful in the accounts team where he started as a clerk before moving on to become the accounts manager. He has a keen interest in international relations and enjoys listening to and playing music in his free time.

Rachel joined Mallory after graduating from Sheffield University with a degree in Hispanic studies. After a break in Mexico, volunteering in marine conservation, she re-joined us in 2009 to develop the international schools business. She now specialises in the systems side of the business, including the Mallory Online Portal. She is one of our fluent Spanish speakers. Now the mum of a cracking little girl, Rachel enjoys nothing more than a kick around and a BBQ on one of our beautiful East Devon beaches.

Sancha joined Mallory’s tenders team in 2003. Her role evolved to the point where she sits on the Mallory board, and oversees the finance and warehouse operations.

Sophie has substantial experience of Africa, including four years as both a director and project manager for an NGO in southeast Madagascar. She has also managed various projects within the UK charity sector, primarily with homeless and disability organisations. Sophie develops and oversees strategies to achieve short- and long-term goals for Mallory. Sophie travelled all over the world in her 20’s. These days she loves walking for miles along the coastal path and hanging out with her two boys.
